'The only innovative pillows I found online were expensive “smart” pillows or “adjustable” pillows — I just wanted a simple, high quality pillow at a fair price.” 

She previously founded a retail chain, which gave her the opportunity to connect with the largest pillow manufacturers and material research firms. Through the experience, she learned a lot about the available materials used, what makes certain materials better than others, and what goes into creating a thoughtful pillow. After prototyping and testing alongside partners with years of material research while tapping into the training and education of sleep researchers, the team rejected the use of molded foam, shredded foam, and down as well as “adjustable-layer” concepts.

Pillow shopping is a confusing mess of ideal sleep positions, pillow heights, and fill material. And that is only half the equation; we’re missing the sleeper’s preferences, body stats, and sleep profile and we needed to make sense of all this data to complete the picture.  

Through extensive testing and surveying we came up with a computer model to solve this problem. We take the sleeper’s preferences, body stats, and sleep profile into our model, then we add in all of the different ingredients we have on hand to make a pillow and it tells us exactly what materials to use for the perfect combination.”
